Youth Protection Training: Required Each Year

Created by Chris Guarniere, Modified on Tue, Apr 2 at 12:47 PM by Chris Guarniere

Ensuring the safety of our Scouts is of paramount importance to us, which is why we require all adults associated with our programs to undertake youth protection training. This training is not just a requirement, but a vital tool that equips you with the knowledge and skills to keep our youth safe.

The National Council issues a youth protection certificate that is valid for two years. However, the Greater New York Councils has mandated that Youth Protection training should remain valid throughout your entire membership status as a volunteer, which generally lasts for around one year. Together, let's make sure that our Scouts are safe and protected.

To renew your Youth Protection Training, please follow these steps:

Visit the website my.Scouting.org and log into your account using your credentials. Once logged in, navigate to the "Menu" and select "My Dashboard" from the list of options. On the "My Training" page, you will find the Youth Protection training section. Click on "Youth Protection" to start the course and complete the accompanying exam. You may need to select "Rekate Course" to renew the training.

Upon successful completion of the training, your records will be automatically updated in our system, and your membership will remain in good standing. There is no need to send us a copy of your completion certificate if you can view it online, as this indicates that your record has been updated in our master database.

We thank you once again for your ongoing commitment to providing quality programs and experiences for the youth of New York City. The positive impact of the Scouting program is immeasurable, and it is through the dedication of adult role models like you that we can continue to offer life-changing opportunities to our Scouts. Your efforts are truly appreciated.
