Tax exempt status of a BSA unit

Created by Dawn Niece, Modified on Tue, Apr 16 at 1:56 PM by Dawn Niece

Important: The tax-exempt status of a Scout unit is consistent with the tax status of the chartered organization.

The National BSA does not offer tax exempt status to individual troops - they provide their group exemption only to local councils.

Your chartering organization is responsible for the troop and will likely provide its exempt status.

See attached "unit-fiscal-procedures."
